BBC highlight increase of males being treated for eating disorders

BBC Breakfast News have announced new found the rising numbers of men being treated for eating disorders.

The story’s based on an Freedom of Information investigation conducted, which found the number of men receiving eating disorder outpatient treatment in England has increased twice as fast as the female rate in the last three years – numbers of female patients grew by 13% while male patients went up 27%. Numbers of boys (under 18) being seen has increased by 38% in the last year alone. Male patients remain a small minority of total patients – around 1200 men were treated last year representing around 8% of the total – but the proportion is steadily rising.

Sam Thomas (MGEDT Founder & Director) gave comment on the BBC News Breakfast programme as other media news outlets.
