Slogan and your ideas for MGEDT poster campaign 2 Months ago
Hi there,

We will soon be working on a poster for MGEDT following a succesful grant from the National Lottery's 'Awards for All' programme. I'd be interested in hear people's thoughts and ideas for this poster, in particular what the slogan should be.

Currently the project is in its infancy stages and toying with various ideas. We will start work with the poster. The aim of this will be to challenge the myths and misconceptions associated with this issue. I'm thinking of the slogan 'Men of all ages, backgrounds and sexulaities can be affected by eating disorders.' I really want to get the diversity message accross and demystify all the assumptions in one swoop if possible! Let me know what you honestly think or whether this needs some slight tinkering.

In terms of the design for the poster any suggestions would also be appreciated. I'm thinking maybe illustations of men of all shapes, sizes, ages, etc to refelct the diversity would work well with the slogan. Unless anyone has any better ideas?

Finally, I'm looking for people to join the E-Steering Group to acts as conultants to develop this work by giving ideas/feedback.
If you're interested please let me know.

Best wishes,

Sam - MGEDT Project Leader

Hello,
That sounds like a very good idea. Me, I am a man from ethnic minority background, so people might not think I am to get eating disorder but I am a sufferer also. I think if people know any one can get eating disorder they can be more aware because sometimes signs and symptoms can be missed of a man or older person or ethnic minority because if that people did not think they can get it.

Also maybe some men are scared to admit because they thinking it seems 'girly' for to have eating disorder. so this can show it is not only girly.

I hope the posters goes very well.

Hi Joselito,

I'm glad you think the poster concept is a good idea. Since I've posted this message I've been working with some of the guys from our E-Steering Group on the poster concept and the diversity message plays a key part. This is something that I see and consdier to be vitally imporatant in our campaign to not just challenge gender assumptions associated with eating disorders but also on age, sexuality, ethnicity, religion, social status, ets. Essentially we want to get the message out there that any man can be effected. Eating disorders have no predjudices.
