Become a member

We are appealing for people and organisations to join our recently launched membership scheme…

The membership scheme is aimed at anyone with an interest in the work of MGEDT and brings together the hard work achieved so far in becoming a national charity and the leading voice for men with eating disorders in the UK and beyond. It gives people the opportunity to become a member of the organisation and have their say in the way we direct our services, attend our annual meetings and take part in consultations to help shape the direction and organisation of the charity.

So why become a member?

By becoming a member you can show your support for MGEDT and have your say in how we deliver our services and campaign as we approach our exciting stage as a newly registered national charity.

We charge a nominal fee to become a member and the money we receive through our membership and supporter scheme goes directly to running the projects which help raise awareness of eating disorders in men and services like online peer support.

We will send our members and supporters a quarterly E-Newsletter to let you know what we are up to and the work going on within the project as well as important updates about the running of the charity. You will also be invited to attend our AGM and other meetings to enable you to have your say about the Organisation and how you think we should be tackling the issue of male eating disorders. Some of these consultations will be held online, so not matter where you are you can have your say.

So how much does it cost to become a member?

  • Individual member £10 per year
  • Concession member £5 per year
  • Non statutory organisation £15 per year
  • Statutory organisation £20 year

Are there any restrictions to becoming a member?

To become a member you must be 18 years of age or over and a resident in the UK. If you are outside of the UK you can become a supporter of MGEDT.

As a supporter you would receive the same news and be invited to informal online consultations however you would not be invited to attend our AGM or be able to become a voting member. How does Membership work?

All members to ‘Men Get Eating Disorders’ Too start off as non-voting members, this means that you are able to attend our AGM’s and voice your opinion but are not entitled to a vote at these meetings.

After 12 months Non-Voting members are invited to become Voting members by the management committee. We have a limit of 50 voting members to the organisation, once this is exceeded non-voting members will be invited based on date joined. As the organisation grows, we envisage having a larger Voting Membership base.

Our Membership policy is available to download or you can request it via email.
