New year is upon us and MGEDT would like to wish every supporter of ours a happy 2018 on behalf of the Director (writing this), and board of Trustees.
Behind the scenes, it’s been busy with management changes that have taken place in the past six months. We welcome our new Chair Debbie Roche, Vice Chair Danny Bowman and fellow Trustees James Downs, Beverley Osbourne Mattocks and Personal Assistant Charly Kay. In this ‘new’ generation we are looking forward to the months and years ahead, of whom work in the field in their individual ways. To find out more about the new team and their backgrounds click here.
On that note, we’d like to thank our exiting Trustees Jenny Langley, Hugh Smith and Ex-Chair Neil Holmes of the latter devoted seven years of service. Without the support of Trustees past and present, MGEDT would not be able to undertake our imperative work.
In 2017 we:
- Continued to develop our flag ship peer support group specific to men and carers in London.
- Continued to deliver with an aim to expand the Sussex Eating Disorders Peer Support Service, with partners As You Are, Brighton & Hove Carers Centre, and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
- Put on our second National Conference in November in our home city of Brighton.
In the build up to our ten year anniversary in 2019, our work is cut out with the ongoing establishment of online and face to face peer support groups. Our plans for anniversary activities and events will be announced later on this year.
Meanwhile, you can help us support our work in the upcoming Eating Disorders Awareness Week from 26th February with details coming soon!
