MGEDT National Conference 2015

We are pleased to announce the first major MGEDT national conference taking place on Friday 10th July 2015 in central Brighton.


Confirmed speakers and presenters include Dr Russell Delderfield as key-note presenter (MGEDT Trustee and PHD Student on the experiences of men with eating disorders), Renate Pantke (Consultant Psychologist, The Brighton and Hove Eating Disorders Service),  Dr Laura Markham (Clinical Psychologist at Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health at Great Ormond Street London),  Andrea Brown (Consultant Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist) & Dan Brown  (Cognitive-Behavioural Psychotherapist, Retreat Centre), Lauren Benton (Founder and CEO of B.O.D.Y.) Danny Bowman (Body Dysmorphia Campaigner), Paul Donald (Founder and Director of Men and Boys Exercise and Eating Disorders Service Scotland) and Pam and Chris Nugent of The Laurence Trust in Northern Ireland, Jenny Langley (author of ‘Boys Get Eating Disorders Too’) and Lynn Crilly (MGEDT Trustee and Author of ‘Hope With Eating Disorders’.)

The main theme of the conference is improving the experience men with eating disorders receive in treatment and community support services. The presentations and workshops will explore the barriers and how these can be overcome by sharing ideas and best practice.

Sub-specific themes also covered include exploring body image in men in the 21st century including exercise disorders and body dysmorphia.
